Project Overview:
APRO Remodeling & Construction was selected to provide specialized selective demolition services at the newly acquired BioNTech cell therapy and R&D facility in Gaithersburg, MD. The site, formerly operated by Kite Pharma (a division of Gilead Sciences), was repurposed by BioNTech to support the expansion of its individualized cancer immunotherapy programs and TCR cell therapy production in the U.S.

Our role focused on preparing key interior spaces for future high-tech upgrades and reconfigurations by carefully removing targeted partitions, obsolete equipment structures, and non-structural elements — all without disrupting the sensitive infrastructure of the facility.

Scope Highlights:

• Interior partition and ceiling removal

• Controlled demolition in cleanroom and lab-adjacent areas

• MEP coordination for safe disconnection and preservation of critical systems

• Hauling and waste management with strict compliance to site safety protocols
